Comments Thread For: Holyfield: Wilder Still Growing, We Must Give Him Time

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) has knocked out almost every opponent that he's face. He already has a world title and fans are demanding that he face the best fighters out there.

Wilder captured the title in January with a twelve round unanimous decision over Bermane Stiverne. He then made two defenses in July and September, knocking out Eric Molina and Johann Duhaupas.

At age 30 Wilder is in his physical prime for today's Heavyweights. It's do or die now with the belt around your waist.

he's still going to fight the 2nd best in the next year..with under 60 rounds under his belt he won a title..u can say champ all u want, butit is not his fault the orgs have to many belts..and that there are too many orgs...he started boxing late still learning..it is simple as that, but he has the body to stay inshape until he's 40 or laters..we'll see

tbh not many top hw every looked like him at 30 they looked out of shape by then...wilder has the body to last until 45 or older if he keeps it up..it is in his genetics..i can tell by his bounce along with the body mass..he's slender..we'll see wat goes on with him..after beating povetkin he'll be able to change the game if he wants

He can definitely go longer because he got a late start in the sport but many seem to think he may be peaking in skill. Although he did perform A+ against Stiverne and nobody thought he would perform that well.

The pampered child is age 30 now.

It's time he grew up and became a man.

holyfield knows wilder is good..if u asked hoyfield today if he woudl beat wilder he'd keep it real and tell u it is a tough fight..wilder has things that are not teachable..im not saying he beats holyfield, but when that jab starts popping and he's moving the guy looks a bit unbeatable if you are too small

now for the statement that will piss ppl off...WILDER HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE MENTIONED ALONGSIDE THE ALI'S OF THE WORLD...klit's resume and record says he does, but ppl hate him bc he doesnt fight and he's always the bigger man in the ring and still jut holds...wilder tho puts on a show, hasnt boxed long at all like sonny liston but is nearly on top of the world...that will only add to it if he takes the ranks of the HW division..and mixing in the fact he's the first american in 20 years..its up to Wilder but this guy could really be remembered..im rooting for him

my eye test of his last fight told me he learned more..did he get away form the jab? no!..but did he hav ebetter balance? did he take angles, did he use his speed advan on the inside//yes...he did at least 7 offensive things repetitively that i liked in that fight..at first i felt he needed better training, but i think those guys are tightening up over there and i think he is soaking it in.

his next step is learning to catch men with the shots they dont see aka countering..

if he had malik scott's skillset and timing...no doubt in my mind this guy would beat ATG Hw's...too long fast strong and in another league athletically

Give him more time? He holds the WBC belt, either fight the best or give it up
