Rybiansky said the same thing about trying to make a deal with Haymon back when Chudinov was Jacob's mandatory.

It's simple economics. Why would Wilder's team "make a deal" with Povetkin when if they merely wait a few weeks they get 70 percent of a purse bid that the Russians may throw $20 million or more to win?

My inner feeling is Team Wilder wants him to get a few fights in so he can be ready for Povetkin, the same way Amir Khan had one or two fights before fighting Maidana. They want him to get more experience before a Povetkin fight but not sure if the competition he has fought would help.

Wilder has been a pro for 5 years longer than Joshua has, if that matters to you.

wilder turned pro in 2008 man, Joshua was in the 2012 Olympics, and has been fighting pro for barely 2 years.

there'd be no point in rushing him. I train with Olympic boxers who have turned pro, totally different technique that takes time undo and rebuild.

WBC do have some embarrassing champions: Wilder, Stevenson, Cotto, FMJ. Most of them great fighters, but the competition and catch weights are annoying. Floyd still has that 154 belt, no defense in two years (at 152). I donīt know too much about the smaller guys, but there seems to be a pattern here. Not saying the other ABCs are that much better though. There should be some way to force unifications to see the best fighting the best.
