Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) will need several years of hard work and dedication to become a pay-per-view attraction, according to Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.

Golovkin made his pay-per-view debut last Saturday night, when he stopped David Lemieux in eight rounds to unify the IBF/WBO/IBO middleweight titles.

I think it also has to do with the guy he was fighting. Yeah Lemieux was a big puncher with a good record, but who him? A lot of people didn't know who Lemiuex was before his fight with GGG was announced. Now if he fights Canelo or Cotto, which I doubt, the numbers will be a lot higher.

Did you even read what he said? He said it doesn't happen overnight and takes years. Most first time PPVs from boxers did low numbers at the start. As for now, only hardcore boxing fans are willing to pay for a GGG PPV. Casual fans are not in yet
