Ward vs GGG should be at 168

Sugar ray Leonard is my hero.....I boxed because of him.....he never had one catchweight when he was in the same division as the other fighter...cant you see that......Leonard had one catchweight when he boxed donny lalonde a light heavyweight and Leonard was middleweight .....as I said before once you go above 154 your in the middleweights...if canelo was 154 I would say ok that's fair to meet halfway but he is not 154 anymore

Absolutely, but it goes back even further than that.....

Cotto fought Martinez for money..... the lineal/WBC title just happened to fall into his hands at the same time.

Regarding that fight.....

* everybody said that Cotto was crazy
* nobody gave him a chance
* nobody gave any thought as to what would happen should Cotto win

Cotto won, and accidentally picked up the lineage/strap.

And as you pointed out, at that stage Cotto/Canelo had been discussed for years, nobody was wetting themselves over a title..... and when Cotto/Canelo was first mentioned not one person in the world could have possibly imagined that a middleweight title would be on the line in that fight.

Its ridiculous when you think about it.

Golovkin is clearly the best middleweight on the planet, nobody will beat him at 160 except possibly Canelo IF given time to prepare, but even then I would definitely favor Golovkin.

Not that I'm a fan of catchweights, but geez, UnAbel needs to stop blabbering away with this huge ego crapola. GGG isn't the legend cash cow he thinks he is... at least not yet. But hey, what do I know? Just seems like there's a SEVEN FIGURE PAYDAY waiting if he just gets it together. Hire a strength and conditioning coach, and get GGG to the catchweight correctly. He's a fighter NOT in the HW class, so he already knows he has to make weights anyway. Cotto would probably demand the same treatment, so what's new here? What am I missing? I'm biased because I want this fight to happen, yes. But you can hate catchweights all you want, just don't be a fool and kiss 7 figures g'bye. SMH

who is cotto and canelo gonna fight after their fight? might as well get sparked out by ggg. No one will think any less of either fighter.

Anybody that they want; vacate the belt, head back down to 154, and cash in on their names. Cotto continues to fight out of New York, closing out his career with a fight in Puerto Rico, and Canelo barnstorms the markets with heavy Latino presence (Cali, TX, Vegas, etc)

And I am well-aware of the Lalonde situation too..... I tried to walk you into a hook by hoping that you were going to tell me that SRL was too much of a man to ask for a catchweight

Canelo is the A-side.

Also, Golovkin said that he can make 154.

If they refuse him a catchweight, then they walked away from that fight.

If so, Canelo will have just beaten Cotto, so he will have the world at his feet..... and Golovkin will be called a paper champ for taking the easy way out, like he did with Ward.
