Comments Thread For: Hopkins: Lemieux Looks Ready To Rip GGG's Head Off!

Golden Boy Promotions partner Bernard Hopkins, who stands as the only man to unify the WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF world titles at 160-pounds, predicts current IBF middleweight champ David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) is going to do some serious damage when he meets WBA, IBO and WBC "interim" champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, (33-0, 30KOs) in their own unification on HBO Pay-Per-View.

hopefully that is true, but to beat Golovkin you can't be a head hunter, and that will be lemieux's demise

Is B-Hop getting a little worried about his record

Ha naw, probably not yet. He probably knows he is full of it, but he is Goldenboy, so what is he supposed to say.

      Goldenboy is full of it!

Yeah . . . Pretty much like when you ripped Kovalevs head off . . . Rather more like having your gloves as ear mitts and quickly moonwalking away and petrified from getting flattened . . . .

Deep down Hopkins knows he is

Just providing 'lip service' on behalf of GBP. I think he knows Lemieux's chances of victory are pretty slim. Bernard is just playing his role in the boxing promotions game now.

                Lemieux will win this one

Honestly, I think that most folks are sleeping on Lemieux. The odds makers - and Sanchez - are underestimating Lemieux. None of GGG had enough power to keep him honest and at bay. Lemieux is a different animal. Also, as Hopkins pointed out Lemieux is faster than GGG. No doubt the Kazazh has good timing and precision, but in a fight of this magnitude speed and power will be a lethal combination. One can clearly on videos that Lemieux' combinations are faster than GGG. He is too wild on some of his punches but still, faster. GGG will hit a brick wall on the 17th. How is he going to react to it? The important thing for Lemieux, whether he wins or loses, is to look good and strong in the fight even if he ends up losing. If he knocks down GGG and gives him the fight of his life, his career won`t be damaged. In fact, people will respect him more. Anyhow, I surprisingly go with Lemieux on this one.

Fight should be exciting, but I think the first time he feels Golovkin's power - he is going to get a lot less aggressive very quickly. I also think Golovkin knocks him out.
