I agree, to a certain degree.

I think the face of boxing WORLDWIDE was, is and will be Manny Pacquiao until he retires. In America specifically, Canelo could become the one, only because there's a huge Mexican American, Mexican and other Hispanic --except Cuban and Puerto Rican-- boxing fan base. This, coupled with the fact that he looks like an Irish guy and he is very young, strong, charismatic AND FIGHTS LIKE A MAN, I MEAN HIS FIGHTS ARE ALWAYS FUN TO WATCH unlike the likes of Mayweather and his imitators/wannabes who avoid trading and clinch super-excessively instead of fighting back, and also sucker punch, use the elbows illegally, rabbit punch and many other tricks that are never ever penalized, not even by a verbal warning by his sold-out American referee friends.

But Canelo is not American, I mean not even Mexican American and he doesn't even speak English. That is a HUGE liability for him. For Americans and most other English-speaking countries, the superstar always has to be an American. De la Hoya was Mexican American but that was enough anyways, in his era. Even when he fought Floyd, he was the biggest draw by far. DLH was the one that sold most of the tickets and PPV sales and AFAIK he got twice or more the purse than Floyd did, something that many commentators and Floyd fans tend to forget easily, and pretend it didn't even happen.

Yeah I was speaking on Canelo not Floyd. He retired as the best of this era so have no interest in trying to say he wasn't that good or popular or anything. Floyd is an ATG and i am moving on.

Canela doesn't even broadcast the "next boxing star" skills in the ring. He is lazy as *** and gasses in all his fights. He is a good fighter but not the next big thing in boxing. Their are better candidates out their to fill that position, common son.

Floyd is he best of his era ONLY in the eyes of American commentators and a few other people from English-speaking countries. For most of the rest of the world, the best of his era is Manny Pacquiao. And for anyone who dare watch the fight Manny-Floyd in slow motion, they will appreciate that Manny did win that fight, because he was not credited with a lot of connected punches because they were so incredibly fast that it looked like he missed, and Floyd was credited for lot of punches that Manny either dodged by super-quick head, body or leg movement, or he caught them in his gloves. Counting the total times Floyd's face was snapped back vs. Manny's, one can easily realize Manny was vastly superior. Not to mention body punches.

I wish there was an institution or authority OUTSIDE OF AMERICA, with worldwide vote and approval, that could re-assess the judging in controversial and milestone bouts like that one, and overturn the judges decision, as well as those misleading Compubox punch stats that are a total sham, a big lie, they are pathetic.

Manny is just too INCREDIBLY FAST. Let's say the judges were not sold out, and they always give Floyd the controversial decisions because they are human and, strangely, they (Nevada boxing commission that is) always pick older people for judging, whose eyes are of course not ready to catch super-quick action with very unusual hitting angles like the ones Manny uses so frequently.

Well, in such case there should be someone analyzing the punches in slow motion and several angles to determine FOR SURE what was a connected and a missed punch. No matter if the decision could be delayed 10-15 minutes more than usual. There could be a few interviews in the meantime, to cover the dead time, but getting an accurate decision would be more than worthwhile.

Bottom line (Floyd) ATG yes of course, with a dishonorable mention as a cowardly fighter, clincher, trickster. But the best of his era? Hell no!!!

Right lol these cottotards are ridiculous. Just because he boxed vs 1 eyed Margarito doesn't mean he's some master. He couldn't even outbox trout and canelo did

Duran is an ATG and his opinion on anything boxing is to be respected. It's gonna be a close fight either way... obviously I'm rooting for Cotto. On Canelo being the next superstar though.... I'm gonna have to differ. Oh yeah... he's gotten the hype since the very beginning. Someone up there took a look at his ginger-haired face and said "Let's make this guy a star." Then they proceeded to feed him nothing but straight crap in the friendly confines of Mexico until his record was sufficiently fattened. Only then have they ventured out to better competition. It's like fattening a turkey for Thanksgiving. But he won't be a superstar. Look someplace else, people. We saw an indication of how misguided the hype was when Canelo stepped into the ring with Mayweather. What a one-sided, boring, shutout of a fight that was. Why did Canelo get that shot at Mayweather? The hype machine. Who's the next superstar in boxing? Maybe GGG... maybe Kov.... maybe Chocolatito... hopefully Verdejo. But certainly not Ginger.
