Comments Thread For: Bute: I Respect DeGale, But I've Never Lost in Quebec!

James DeGale will travel to Canada to make the first defence of his IBF world super-middleweight title when he takes on Lucian Bute at the Videotron Center in Quebec on November 28.

The 29-year-old claimed the IBF strap back in May, defeating American Andre Dirrell on points to become the first British fighter to add a world professional title to an Olympic gold medal, which he achieved in Beijing in 2008.

I hope Bute bounces back from the Froch loss, he was a pretty good fighter.

The loss to Pascal never really unsettled me, Bute doesnt belong at 175. It was a good cash out fight. He went the full 12 though.

Its an intriguing matchup as Degale isnt a big puncher, and Bute can box when he wants to. At 168 he has quite a punch. Id bet he wants nothing more than to reclaim the title he held for so long

Kinda surprised DeGale isn't doing the popular "homecoming" first defence like most new titleholders against somebody ranked about 50 in the world.

That said, I don't really see Bute causing DeGale too many problems.

Because he's not popular at home.

It's like Degale is fighting a prime Un-KO'able Bute.

There's more money in the fight in Canada I would assume. Bute is a big ticket seller there.
