I did have him rated very highly. I guess I had him at the same level as Maidana. I thought he fought poorly and stayed down when he could have easily beat the count which is something Maidana would never do. I am a big Maidana fan and I was a big Matthysse fan but I became an ex fan tonight.

Maidana has come up big several times already, like his upset wins over Ortiz and Broner and his close effort Mayweather, as well as his close war with Khan.

Matthysse on the other hand, has come up short, even in his favorite role against DSG. Matthysse was favored to win inside the distance vs Garcia on the odds. He was also favored to win inside the distance against Postol. He always comes up short.

With that said, you can't take away his wins over Soto, Provodnikov and Peterson. And still a fight between Maidana and Matthysse would be interesting but obviously Maidana would be favored to win, possibly by TKO at this point ever since the Garcia, Molina and Postol knock downs, Matthysse looks much more vulnerable now.

People just don't understand things. Madana didn't have a truly competent corner until Garcia. His sparring leading up to fights was horrid. His training methods were not truly evolved until here recently. How far he got before that was based on sheer grit and willpower. But the man had all this untapped talent roaring for development.

It's clear watching the Mayweather fights that this is the case. He was boxing Floyd in the center of the ring, making Floyd miss, hitting Floyd with authority and intelligence. Feints, cutting off the ring, odd angles, and clubbing power. He even pull countered a pull counter at one point!

Only thing Matts would do against May is follow like a lost puppy in his straight up and down stance looking hapless as jabs and lead rights bounced off his dome. Real talk.

Styles make fights, it could be like the Devon fight all over again. Plus there's no need to be a **** about it, Maidana has had better opportunities than Lucas who always got hard stylistic match ups (slick fighters). Matthysse gave up because he couldn't see not because he was hurt. He was waiting for his vision to come back but it didn't. Postol was hurt everytime Lucas landed and he said Lucas had very good power as his record suggests. Postol used his length and skills to their maximum to beat Lucas who is also a good boxer. Maidana would not fight in the same way and that's why I have Lucas winning. It's my opinion and neither of us can PROVE either of our opinions so its all speculation. Also we have no idea how Chino will be coming back after gaining 100lbs. Also common opponents Alexander and Corley say Matthysse hit harder. Lucas dropped Corley 9 times (mainly body shots which Chino doesnt like) and stopped him. He went the distance with Chino.
