Good thread Larry.
I was thinking about jumping on the Wilder hype train but I watched his last 2 fights and he sucks so I'm jumping on the Tony Joshua hype train instead.

You can tell he's trying to learn though. He's not nearly as wild and crazy with his swinging as he once was.
I think when he's in against someone who can crack he won't box the same as last night with his hands down low. But yeah, if he's faces some solid punchers in the next few fights then it could end bad for him, but that's heavyweight boxing, losing doesn't mean you're bad.

the wide looping punches make me cringe...Wilder is fortunate to be in a such a crap era of HWs that he is able to create some kind of buzz for himself
if this were the 90s or early 2000s, there would be no Deontay Wilder

Every heavyweight is a knockout waiting to happen.
Seriously doubt if there's been five heavies who fought at the world class level for any meaningful period of time in the last 30 years who weren't stopped at least once.
Wlad got stopped. He's turned out OK. Vitali got stopped. He turned out OK. Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis ... all top-tier heavyweights, all got stopped.
It happens in heavyweight boxing.

He is an offensive minded fighter and he is best when he is out to get the other guy.
He will eventually get got first, that is how it goes and that is pretty much how it was always going to be for him.
He could knock out Povetkin then Wlad and then get knocked out himself against a relative unknown, is that still a bad outcome?
