Comments Thread For: Thurman Feels Most Fans Will Move Past Mayweather

Last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) took part in what he claimed was the final fight of his career. He announced his retirement after winning an easy twelve round decision over Andre Berto.

According to WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman, a good portion of fans will find someone to fill the void that Mayweather left behind.

There's no void to fill. He's a boring fighter. Fans have long been waiting for his disappearance and they're now celebrating.

Just took alook at the front page here and there isn't one Floyd thread.

I'd say were might in just fine. *****s will be confused and lost without Floyd for awhile, but tue rest of the sport, and world won't miss Floyd one bit.

Despite his sales, he was awful for then sport. The sport can now burn that layer of bs Floyd left, and begin to rebuild itself.

No **** Keith "Captain Mfing Obvious" Thurman. Surely most fans & anitfans of Mayweather are boxing fans first so will keep on keeping on. Some cats are clearly only Mayweather fans or antifans & they may or may not glance around for some new guy that catches there fancy before leaving.

Floyd created drama for the sport. Not excitement.

He retired and nobody outside his diehard fanbase even batted an eyelash.

floyd never gave his haters what they wanted.. see him lose. he'll always be hated for that. . miss me with that "he's boring" crap, even when floyd had brawling wars with cotto, hatton, maidana, jesus chavez, N'dou.. even when he stood flat footed with mosley and canelo.. no matter what he did, complaints kept coming.. because its not about him being exciting, what these people wanted was for him to lose. .look at how beating pacquiao magnified the hatred , that's when it hit floyd that he can't please people who will only be pleased by him being defeated.
