Obviously Stevens is not Cotto, so movement, jab and defense will be mimicked by other sparring partners. It is a good choice of sparring partner, but yes Stevens is closer to Kirkland then he is to Cotto.
I agree in general, but in this case there is at least one guy that can do a pretty close approximation, and besides that Canelo really needs to prepare more for the movement and jab game, and then the hook game if anything. Him countering hooks by Stevens doesn't mean much because Stevens is very easy to hit, doesn't cut the ring off well, and doesn't set up his hooks much. Stevens is a tougher than normal sparring partner in general but as you say he fights far closer to how Kirkland fights than Cotto, which I think is not offering much aid to Canelo for this fight.

but then again if cotto manages to make a close fight, the rematch will happen with or without a title and no one will care...
the only one calling cowards will be GGG fans, and they are already doing it, so it makes no difference...
Canelo will vacate the title and then try to come back and get it? That's ******. It's not GGG fault that Canelo has been fighting smaller fighters.

Whoever comes out of that fight with the title fights GGG next or vacates the title. And counter to what everyone around here loves to try and pretend... TITLES ARE IMPORTANT TO FIGHTERS. They are also important to the promotion of a fight. No fighter gives up a title lightly. Well other than Quillin. Fighters care about titles. Promoters care about titles. Trainers and managers care about titles and MOST OF ALL, FANS CARE ABOUT TITLES.
Canelo fans love to pretend like him winning this title means something, but him giving it up would mean little.

It would mean Canelo is what I say he is, a pretender, a fraud, and joke. He has been a MW for a long while, he has just drained himself. It's not GGG fault he got himself in a position that he has to fight the best MW at 160. He can vacate the title, but it will mean a lot.

I don't think one reputable site has this ranking. Ring ****zine has Cotto ranked above GGG at MW, which makes me think they are out right ******, since Cotto says he isn't a MW, has never fought a MW at 160.

The so called reputable sites, they are basically part of boxing trenched in political machine.

The sites that use logic and reason, all know that Cotto is not a true MW champion.

Sorry, most decent rankings will have lineal champ on top, esp if clear lineage. It's often not the best guy, sometimes the lineage is not clear cut, but as a general rule its not bad.

In some ways Stevens is a good prep for Cotto and in other ways he is not. He can dip low and launch those left hooks, which is a plus. Cotto though has way better angles and way better legs. Stevens movement is like he is walking through mud.

Cotto will win by a devastating combination of left hook to the liver, right hook to the chin, left hook to the body, and right jab in the face. Cotto win by KO in 6.
