Is Mike Tyson the real PPV king?

I think in the ppv era, tyson is more deserving of being the king of ppv than mayweather. Tyson was breaking 1 million plus ppv's against complete nobodies. His fights with Holyfield and Lewis nearly broke 2 million. If he had more high profile fighters to fight his ppv would of been more. Mayweather is fighting fighters that have huge fan bases (pacquiao, canelo) but once he fights nobodies like berto he does 500k. He couldnt even break a million against maidana.

    Mike Money Tyson.

Yes tyson was a much bigger star than floyd is.... Now PPv is much more accessible than it was in the 80s n 90s. If tyson was fighting now, his buy rates would be 2-4 million damn near everytime.. If you didn't live thru the tyson era, then you have no idea how huge of a star tyson was..

His fight vs danny Williams was the biggest heavyweight fight of the year in terms of PPv buys and revenue..

              Around the 350 k Mark.

Do you see me having the argument that "every time Tyson doesn't fight a big name he does 500K" ?

It's a discussion board mate. This is what you do on these things.

People make threads like this one you clicked on and posters go back and forth and discuss it.

80s-90s Tyson could sell almost any fight man.

Hard to compare the time periods directly. Social media makes promoting a different game than it was for virtually all of Tyson's significant fights. Tyson/Holyfield and Tyson/Lewis would have sold more I think if they had occurred later. Mayweather/Pacquiao, May/ODLH, May/Canelo etc wouldn't have sold as many as they did in earlier years. But how would they really compare to each other when normalized? I have no idea.

Still, I think it's hard to argue against Mayweather's success.
