Comments Thread For: Mayweather: They’ll Criticize Me No Matter Who I Face

The fight that Floyd Mayweather says will be his final bout is coming against Andre Berto, who while a former two-time welterweight titleholder is also someone who has gone 3-3 in his last six fights. Berto’s defeats came against two fighters Mayweather went on to beat (Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero), and to another fighter (Jesus Soto-Karass) who lost to someone else Mayweather defeated (Marcos Maidana).

I'm pretty sure no one would have criticized you if you took on GGG at 154 or 160.. just sayin... you would have gotten lots of praise..

That fight isn't realistic....when was the last time GGG weighed in at 154???

If Floyd won(which I think he'd get KTFO) THEY'D say GGG was weight drained

If he doesn't fight some one, he is ducking.....If he fights them and wins, their is an excuse

Personally I'd give him mad props if he fought GGG but he has too much to take care of at 160

Only thing that would enhance Mayweathers legacy is a win over the Cotto-Canelo fight for the lineal title or fight winner of GGG-lEMIEUX

You are crazzzzy, they would've claimed GGG was drained, and as for the "you would've gotten lots of praise" thats boollshyt, same people said that if he fought pac he would be praised, instead pac lied about his shoulder and these people claimed that if you would've watched it in slow motion, you would've saw something different than the professional boxing judges or pacs network commentators saw.

I think even if he fought GGG he would still get critisized. He has a good resume. Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo, Mosley, Hatton, Judah, Marquez just to name a few. Is he the greatest ever as he says? Of course not! But hes the best fighter p4p of the last decade thats for sure.

He's criticized with Pacquiao because the fight happened 5 years late.

He's criticized with Canelo because of the 152 catch weight.

He's criticized with Maidana because of the, "running" and "hugging". Let's be real though, Kenny Bayless did a **** job that second fight in regards to the clinching. Still, it's just an excuse to hate on him because he's been fighting this way for years now. The last reason below is my opinion on why he's hated on a lot.

He's criticized because he's undefeated and not a, "people's champ" kind of guy. People like to see the, "good guy" come out on top. Mayweather has a record of domestic violence, and showboats his money consistently. Not exactly people's vision of the way a hero acts.

I don't know what criticism he received for Cotto/Mosley/Hatton, though. Probably the Hatton fight for acting like a diva with the whole landing before Hatton does thing.

Everyone gets criticized in this sport, like he said, it comes with the territory.

Doesn't mean you fight Berto though, there is still an obligation to take on the next best guy whether you're HW or Flyweight.

He's right. And really...who cares? His career is over. If you're whining about Berto that means it just burns you that he may walk away undefeated.

What hurts mayweather is his pot shots, clinch & run style... takes no risks.
I would gladly pay to see Santa Cruz vs Mares II, all action fight
