Comments Thread For: Quillin-Zerafa Has a 163-Pound Weight Limit

The fight between former middleweight titleholder Peter Quillin and Michael Zerafa that headlines the Sept. 12 afternoon “Premier Boxing Champions” card on NBC will have a weight limit of 163 pounds, according to the fighters and promoter Lou DiBella.

The fact that the fight will be contested above the middleweight limit isn’t wholly surprising. Quillin came in overweight for his April bout with Andy Lee, initially coming in at 161.4 pounds, then returning to the scales at 160.6 pounds.

"It will allow Quillin to see how his body feels to make 163."

So, what is 163 going to be now, "Quillin weight" or something?

What a **** show, Al Haymon the PBC and his fighters continue to make a mockery of boxing. They should at least make these kind of concessions for a guy thats worth it. Quillins so wack he even gives the pbc a bad name.

Its not a title fight, who cares? Are we acting like all fights take place within a division now? Outside of HW a ton of fights not for titles happen a couple lbs over or with one guy within & the other 2lbs over or some such ****. Not that big a deal folks, happens all the time. I could understand the disappointment with Garcia vs Peterson being over 140 since they were champs at 140, but Quillin vs the Thunder from Down Under is a whatever non-title fight.

I lost all respect for Peter after taking this fight. Now i just don't care about him anymore. I don't have a problem with him fighting at 163, the MW linear title is being fought at 155 so that whole division is a shítshow. My problem is picking this weak opponent AND fighting him above his weight class. If he wants to fight at 163 he some be fighting a SMW at 163. This is Garcia/Salka all over again. Quillin doesn't want to face tough competition. He wants to make good money for fighting weaker opposition. He's moving away from Danny Jacobs so what's his plan after this fight? Haymon seriously needs to hire a match maker.

this fight is so useless I don't care what weight it's fought at but that quote is possibly the dumbest thing I've read in a while.

Peter Quillin is the biggest joke in boxing and it isn't even a debate. How in the world can anyone be a fan of this pathetic fraud?

What's even worse are the ******s who will act like it's some big thing when he fights Jacobs and act like it wipes out this f*ggot's ducking.
