Yes, this is true. From the get-go, his team has selected the 'safest low risk' opponents available and, only, when he got his title shot was he forced to step up (against Stiverne). I emailed his manager Jay Deas a couple times and Deas was offended that I called Wilder's less-than-stellar opposition "bums."

A year or two back, I felt Wilder had the capability of beating some highly regarded opponents had he had the chance. His Team though always opted for the safe fight.

This guy he's fighting isn't gonna help him get to the next level. His team should've picked Tony Thompson or Czar Glazkov - two durable and credible opponents that would give him rounds, but guys that Wilder is definitely capable of beating.

We'll see what happens with Wilder in the next 6-12 months. I like him but I don't think his title reign will be long.

Glazkov is fighting this month. No way he was going to fight on that turnaround..

You guys are pathetic. When Sasha beat Charr it was like "OMG he's a beast!!!! So amazing!!!" Duhuapas beats him, "he sucks, Wilder's a bum".

Let him enjoy his run, IT WON'T BE LONG! He wants to play things safe because clearly he is not as confident in himself as he pretends to be.

You prepare for Top Level Competition like Wlad and even Povetkin by fighting other Top Level Competition or even their Common Opponents and try to defeat them better than they did.

He is setting himself up to get embarrassed when he steps in with Wlad or Povetkin because he won't be prepared or battle tested. You don't become Champion and start fighting easy fights so you can hold on to that title. I give him a pass for taking 1 vs Molina but 2 weak opponents in a row is a RED FLAG!

Povetkin is not great or anything like that but he will be a huge step up for Wilder! We know the Heavyweight Division is not a very talented Division at all. But what really looks bad is when you're in a **** Division and you're still picking weak opponents to fight
