Comments Thread For: Quigg: Frampton Didn't Look That Good, 100% I'll Win

Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23KOs) was disappointed with Carl Frampton's twelve round decision win over Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. last month in Texas. Frampton (21-0, 14KOs) went down twice in the first round and had some trouble, but eventually found his grove to dominate the action to retain his IBF super bantamweight crown.

On the same July night, across the ocean in Manchester, Quigg retained his WBA 'regular' belt when he demolished former champion Kiko Martinez in two rounds.

This is some good sh/t and I would love to see this happen. Quigg may have a point about the chin of Frampton but I would favor the Belfast native if they get it on.

Quigg is a fanatically dedicated pro and a good, powerful fighter who I am pretty sure would be willing to take on anybody in the division but he doesn't seem to get much praise or respect, possibly because of the image he projects - doesn't express himself in words too well and looks a bit strange with those always wide open eyes. Well, I respect Scott Quigg. It will take a good man to beat him.

haha true he comes across as real simple but I have no dislike for him I just feel frampton is the better fighter overall I think quigg lucked out in the kiko fight not saying he wouldnt have won anyway if he never caught him real fast like that but we could have really seen what he is made of if the fight went on longer

Even as a Frampton megafan and Northern Ireland native I have to agree with what he's saying kind of. Carl's last performance was severely underwhelming, especially given the hype worked up by his manager and trainer. He was supposed to announce himself on the American scene with a **** but it didn't quite go that way, a few of his weaknesses were exposed. That said, I still think he's capable of better and will go on to do great things, I just think they should cool it on the hype, stop declaring him #1 in the Superbantamweight division and let his fists do the talking. Before Quigg fought Kiko I had Frampton winning no problem, now I'm not so sure. If Frampton boxes, he wins, too smart for Quigg, going toe to toe though could be asking for trouble, Quigg's good in close, whereas Frampton's inside game can be found lacking...

Minus that one punch of Quigg on Kiko and the early stoppage of the referee not allowing Kiko to atleast have a chance to survive/recover his legs then you could probably be certain Kiko would have beat Quigg.
