Comments Thread For: Mayweather CEO: This is His Final Fight, Not a PPV Ploy

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, says WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) is going to retire after his September 12th title defense against Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Ellerbe denies that Mayweather is fabricating the angle of "final fight" to enhance his per-per-view purchases against a very significant underdog. Some betting circles have Berto as high as a 80-1 underdog.

Its funny how people say no one will buy this fight. If people bought the Baldomir fight, I'm pretty sure they'll buy this one too

80-1 on PPV? Anyone justifying this should get banned for a week.

Baldomir beat Judah and people wanted to see how Floyd would do against someone much larger then him on fight night. Berto doesn't even have a win over a fighter of Judah's caliber...Wow, that's real sad now that I think about it. Got dang this fight is pathetic

i dont believe it, but i will be buying bc i cant afford to miss history..anything can happen in boxing..and i dont want to hear about it or wait on it..I WANT IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE...

but something tells me that floyd would walk away on free tv and a head knod bc he is much more humble now instead of on ppv...i just do not believe the last fight talk...i hope so, bc he will get crucified for makin ppl pay for this if he comes back..

When it's all said and done Floyd Mayweather will the be the most overly paid athlete in the history of sports.

The guy hasn't had a strong showing in the last 5 years. Please name me a watchable fight in the last 5 years??? All his PPV's have stunk and only a Floyd nut hugger will disagree.
