Comments Thread For: Tony Thompson Explains Why Doping Should Be Legal

TONY THOMPSON believes boxing should legalize doping because it is so rife in the sport.

The American heavyweight maintains his innocence despite it emerging this week that he failed a drugs test after his July 2013 win over David Price – a defeat which derailed the British Olympic medalist’s career.

He insists banned substance hydrochlorothiazide entered his system through medication for high blood pressure.

Boxing would lose credibility if we allowed roids. Imagine if we legalized roids and in that same year guys start dying, it would look terrible.

"You look at the bodies, of some of these guys, at some of these advanced ages and you tell me, is it not a little fishy?"

We know who you're talking about Tony..

So what about the 'have not's'... they won't be able to dope as good as the 'haves'...

A sport can't legalize something that is illegal.

Logic like this can only come from someone who calls D.C. home. Anyone that supports a crack smoking mayor will surely see no problem with roids in boxing.

When it comes to MMA, boxing, football and other sports alike, roiding shouldn't be allowed. People's lives are at stake here.

And lol @ basically admitting that he roided.

I didnt roid buuuut.... it should defo be legal.

Kind of an unusual comment from someone after being caught, albeit with medication that probably should be legal. Crank up the testing, but first, improve testing.

                No. No. No.

It should always be a battle of who is the best fighter, not a battle of who has taken the best substances.

PEDs should not be legal in any sport. It goes beyond the health of those they compete against. If it's legal, now you go from guys having minor amounts of drugs in an effort not to be busted that may or may not have much affect on their performance to guys in an arms race to see who can put the most and best PEDs in their systems. And most PEDs wreck havoc on a healthy body, combined with the natural damage sports does it will lead to athletes living a terrible quality of life when they retire. Look at the lifespans of pro wrestlers, where PEDs were legal until very recently.

                  It's a bad, bad idea.

They are all taking PEDs. With the difference that top "rich fighters" get expensive expert PED assistance...
