Perhaps. But then if GGG fights Ward first, then that means no Cotto, Canelo, Lemieux or possibly Mayweather. Likewise it makes sense for him to explore the latter fights first. Ward can wait around if he wants, but he has less options. Can't fight the Smith's of the world forever and get paid 2 million a pop. Not with Ward's style.

To his defense, a lot of DISH subscribers don't even have the channel BET, including myself and my area. If his fight was on HBO/SHO he does better numbers.

And they know full well he won't accept it.

That's like Mayweather offering Golovkin a fight at 150 and him declining it and saying "well I offered and you said no!"

Is it really the same thing. Really. 10lbs and 4lbs are the same. This is the level of ridiculousness TMT are ok with?

Apparently, a fight with Lemieux is bigger for the sport of boxing then a Ward fight.

            Yeah.

            It's gotten that bad.
Yeah and will Ward's next fight be as big as if he fought Kovalev? Nope.

Lemieux got 163 thousand viewers for a world title fight on the same night.

No it's the fact they know for a fact Ward cannot make 164.

Same way Golovkin can't make 150.

I doubt he can make 154 but for arguments sake I said a weight we know he can't make.

That's one of GGGs biggest issues, the guy isn't getting younger, his reflexes and punch resistance will only decrease and he can't wast 12 months waiting for Cott or Canelo, he isn't a young fighter. Time is of the essence.

Having said that, HBO will steer GGG and Ward away from arduous match ups, because this is a fight which will definitely happen next year.

If he were to lose to Ward that would also risk his chances of getting a Canelo fight or at the very least it wouldn't be as big of a fight.
As a GGG fan and a follower of boxing on a daily rotuine in the last couple of years (new to this , so you can mock my opinion if you like) I feel the politics here are strong for Canelo NOT to fight GGG , I feel cotto 100% doesnt figh him , and Canelo will get way more Vol defences from the WBC before he is forced to fight GGG , Canelo just makes them too much money and they dont care about anything else , so for me those 2 fights are out of the quesino , PQ wont fight him , so its DL and Andy lee , those are good figths but far from "Oh my god i cant sleep so pumped for this fight" kinda fights if you know what i mean..... its for me a missmatch as i think GGG is much better then those 2 , i would like him to test him self , but thats cuz im a boxing fan and would like to see great figths , if Ward takes on Kovalev it will be something great and will make me a Ward fan in a day regardless of boxing styles and what not.
TLDR - there is so much you can do with the DL of the worlds , when the real money fights wont risk it (cotto/canelo)..... you gotta chase or stay mediocre in resume (which is fine i guess ).

And nobody has talked about the possibility of a Cotto/Canelo rematch. What if the fight turns out to be a classic and ends in a draw or a controversial decision? So much uncertainty with him being able to land one of those two any time soon.
