that was some great boxing. falling over while throwing punches and squaring up on defense are new revolutionary tactics that wilder is inventing. he's changing the game!

i also loved the hand's up in the air to try to dodge the southpaw jab.
pulev could learn from wilder and adept his harley davidson style stance to wilder's hand's vertical arm defense.
        game changing stuff.

Szpilka did a lot better than I expected. He boxed well, fought with great confidence and controlled aggression, and went out on his shield. Big respect to the man from Poland. And big respect to Bryant Jennings as well, who handled Szpilka a lot easier than Wilder did.

As for Wilder himself, this is the third fight in a row where he's struggled to put away an opponent he was expected to demolish. I've never given credence to the Stiverne dehydration stuff, but that's really starting to look like an anomalous performance for either Wilder or Stiverne himself given the context we now have. Wilder's always been wild, but he was made to look like an absolute fool on more than one occasion last night, particularly the sequence when he threw two wild haymakers in a row that totally missed Szpilka's head by a country mile. Amateur hour stuff. He also struggled big time with the movement and feints of Szpilka, which doesn't bode at all well for a showdown with Fury. The knockout shot was a beauty and proof that he can end fights at any time, but this isn't something new, and Wilder was helped to a degree by Szpilka's openness.

I love that every Wilder fight is a rollercoaster, but at this moment he's really not cementing his position as number one in the division fighting the way he's doing. Povetkin might still be a winnable fight for him due to stylistic advantages he possesses, but Fury absolutely has his way with him, and I don't care how many people bring up the Cunningham knockdown.

Yes, Wilder looked a lot more limited in this fight than Szpilka, who actually boxed extremely well. I think the southpaw stance and Szpilka's herky jerky style unravelled Wilder to the point where his technique just flew out the window. He's like Wlad in that respect, though a far more extreme case. Take him out of his comfort zone and he falls to pieces.

I think the lack of respect for the game plan of the Szpilka is disrespectful. Yes Szpilka lost but did so well. The man train hard and it showed. His southpaw stance and style confused Wilder early, which I believe the reason for an Okay performance from Wilder. Povetkin won't be as difficult to hit, but is a much more dangerous task. Wilder, continues to show drive to entertain but allows it to cloud his focus. I'll continue to say I would like to see if with a better team.

Wilder could paradoxically look a lot better against Povetkin simply due to the style mashup. Povetkin's miles better than Szpilka in nearly every category, but he's also a lot less unorthodox, which means Wilder isn't going to be in the same unfamiliar territory as last night. I think people need to bear that in mind when (if?) the fight gets announced.

Those are also overlooking Artur as a southpaw....I never got the impression Wilder wanted a fast stoppage anyway...... footwork was also much better though clashing with Arturs own lead foot, his overall balance for 9 rnds was improved...hes a slow learner but every fight hes improved in another way...these are the little things you guys are not seeing....don't hold your breath on the fury ring entrance either Wlad motivated equals better than those guys levels ....so come on attack now....you guys know its true until actually a liove wlad shows up....at the end of the day wilder is always a threat...how much against either is still unknown.

                      He fought as I expected.

I picked Szpilka, and I said he'd outbox Wilder.

But Wilder did what he needed to do, and hats off to him.

                      He deserves congratulations.

He isn't a very good boxer.

But he proved he has real power, the big eraser as Atlas calls it.

I don't think he beats Povetkin, and Fury would destroy him in my opinion, but the fights have to happen before we can be sure.

I give Wilder credit for the win.

I'm not a big fan, but he beat a tough guy and dug deep to do it.
