Comments Thread For: Collazo Explains Why He Refused To Continue To Fight

USF Sundome, Tampa, Florida - In the main event of the Premier Boxing Champions debut on ESPN, Keith Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) retained his WBA 'regular' welterweight championship with an eight round stoppage of former beltholder Luis Collazo (36-7, 19KOs).

Thurman had some adversity in the fifth round, when he was severely hurt by a hook to the body. The punch came in the final minute of the round and he was able to use his legs to get out of trouble. Both of Collazo's eyes were swelling up as the fight progressed and he was cut above the right eye.

Sounds like some Victor Ortiz b*tch sh"t. Herrera had his damn eyelid flapping in the wind and kept fighting, but your b*tch ass gets cut and suddenly its the end of the world? The way al haymon is breeding these chickens,in a few months we're going to see fights ending with excuses like "I didn't want to fight anymore because he kept hitting my face......but thanks you al haymon doe"

      mike 101001,

You disparage the fighters like they are low life. It takes a lot of courage to climb in the ring. After 8 rounds with a world class fighter (Thurman) and you call the guy a quitter. Tell us about your ring experience and how you fought through adversity, I'd like to know. You act like a real tough guy with your street talk. I'm an old man (I fought in the golden gloves, Kansas City , Mo 1963 an 1964. I bet I could kick your ***.

Yep but victor was with the fight rigging delahoya huh ...oh I'm sorry gotta blame the boogeyman Al for that too ...while on HBO ha Herrera win a belt on a bs 4 round fight that was dead even ...red stop the fight every 4 seconds ...a bs arum golden not fight ...I like Herrera ...he has some bad decisions against him but this was a gift from Hoya to make fights he really won I guess ...Hoya breeding canjello ...when will he step in with another good fighter Floyd beat him easy and Lara really won ...there's a lot of 154-160 fighters he could fight but Hoya will protect him and probably put him in with clottey next who hasn't fight a real fight in years ....oh that's right he's fighting older cotto now ...ariza. Was investigated by Feds in 08 for rigging fights and medicAl records not Al

You don't quit in boxing! I applaud warriors such as Matthysse, Provo, Bradley, Ward, Gatti, and pretty much any Mexican lol. A Mexican fighter could have his eyeball hanging out and still want to continue to fight.

Coming from a guy who has probably never been in a ring in his life. And who would probably quit from the first hard shot. Normally the really tough talkers are the ones who run when the sh#@$t gets real. Collazo made the call that he felt was right for him. Thurman is a big puncher and to take big shots over and over because you don't see them coming could essentially ruin his chances of ever fighting again. Or possibly getting caught and koed because he didn't see the punch could have ended his chances of ever getting another big shot. He had thurman hurt and reeling in this fight and it was competitive. Collazo has been in some brutal wars and never quit so you cant question his heart. And ortiz jaw was essentially hanging off the hinges while still getting punched in it. You can talk tough all you want but I'm convinced if it were you you would have quit much sooner. Probably from the first jab. Put on some gloves get in a ring and put in work and then just maybe, maybe you can talk. But until then just keep quiet cyber gangster.

It takes more of a man to quit in boxing to fight another day
