Miguel Cotto is on vacation, but his team is not.
The negotiations for the planned showdown between WBC Middleweight Champion Puerto Rican Miguel Angel Cotto and Mexican Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez continued this week with great progress and facing an official announcement at any time in the month of July.
Cotto and Canelo, who have been before in this negotiating position, are on track to face on November 21 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
But both headquarters and the proposed date are still analyzed and may undergo some changes.
"Everything is still very good and positive," said Gabriel Peñagarícano lawyer, legal adviser Cotto and who is responsible for negotiating with Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions.
"We are at 90 percent. We're still not clear whether it will be on that date (November 21) but we'll let it know quite possibly in July. The important thing is that everything has gone well and I understand will soon finalize an agreement. You understand that yes, the fight will be in November", he reiterated.
Cotto, who won the 160-pound World Boxing Council (WBC), fought last June 6 in New York, against Australian Daniel Geale. Whom he dispatched in the fast lane in the fourth assault in a fight held at the Barclays Center Brooklyn, New York.
While Canelo also did the same in May by knocking out James Kirkland in the third round in Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
"This is a big fight in which there are many details and aspects to deal with," he added Peñagarícano.
