Comments Thread For: Yamanaka vs. Moreno World Title Fight Set, 9/22 In Japan

A much desired showdown between top bantamweights Shinsuke Yamanaka and Anselmo Moreno has finally come to fruition, even if perhaps one fight too late.

The two will collide on September 22 in Japan, according to multiple reports coming out of Moreno's native Panama.

Yamanaka (23-0-2, 17KOs) will attempt the ninth defense of the bantamweight belt he's held since Nov. '11. The unbeaten southpaw from Tokyo is coming off of a 7th round stoppage of Diego Santillan in May, reaffirming his position as de facto bantamweight leader.

Fantastic! Been hoping Moreno would get back on his horse. Should have happened long ago, but I can understand the reluctance in facing Moreno. Very tricky customer.

Might be a little late now for Moreno as he hasn't been at his peak for a while now, but let's hope he can get back up for this big fight. Yamanaka is a great fighter and himself getting pretty long in the tooth, but I can wait to see this. Should be a great fight.

The Bantamweight division is weak as f**k so I'm okay with this fight. War Yamanaka, .
