Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Promoter Gives Take on Competing PBC Card

On the night of July 24th in Las Vegas, Main Events is staging a card at the Mandalay Bay featuring light heavyweight kingpin Sergey Kovalev, who will be facing his IBF mandatory Nadjib Mohemmedi. Across town at the Palms Casino and Resort, a Premier Boxing Champions card is taking place with a cruiserweight battle between BJ Flores and former 175-pound champion Beibut Shumenov.

Neither fight figures to draw all that well, but it still splits whatever market there may be.

I doubt either fight gets 1000 people combined

I doubt one fight gets 1000 people combined while the other does not.

Shumenov-Flores is probably the more even match-up, but Kovalev-Mohammedi is a bout between two top 10 LHWs.

Neither fight is great in truth.

Screw your Duva. That's what you get for pulling outta the purse bid. I hope pbc puts on a fight anytime your fighter has one scheduled

Every time Haymon tries to fill a venue by giving away free tickets when it is up against another event in the same city, it will just be another example of his anti-competitive practices to cite in the lawsuits. Just one more nail in the Haymon/PBC coffin.

So sure... let Haymon continue to give away free tickets and continue to operate his cards at a huge loss. He only damages himself.

Don't think either will have a good time selling seats... but shumenov/Flores is a fight that will struggle just to give away tickets

To me things are looking great. I love this sport. I'm not the money, behind the scenes political expert like most detractors on here. Maybe you could help me understand why pbc is bad for the fans
