He has a lot of pressure on him fighting a guy who's that inexperienced and untested

why not fight him and get an easy win if hes so untested and inexperienced? Thurman should give him a good test.

That's how it works. Happened with Martinez at 160 as well (preceded by Golovkin). The cycle of throwing a fighter under the bus when a new fighter emerges. One of the most popular behaviors among boxing fans.

Mega, dont you think Spence is high risk, low reward at this stage? There is no doubt Spence is solid, however, Thurman is aiming up as far as stock value is concerned. You don't get the big names by fighting unproven fighters. And Spence hasn't even fought a C level type fighter yet, let alone a known / respected one.

Fact is, Spence is better than Guerrero, yet Guerrero has the resume to give credibility to those who fight and beat him. Spence can't offer that. You beat him and you will find yourself in the same place.

I understand Thurman in this situation, just like I understand Porter. Spence needs to work his way up like those two did. If I was them, I'd want Spence to go thru all the frustrations, struggles and work that I went thru to get to my position.

Your right, boxing has a structured and rigorous path to get to the top. One in which nobody can "leapfrog" and absolutely no cutsies!

Many fighters have fought for championships at 16-0 and below.
