Because he was a peasant. Nobody outside of Tiajuana thought Tony would beat Floyd.

      The man was shook
What would the man be scared of? He couldn't understand a single word coming out of Margarito's mouth.

Well coming from someone who was actually around during that time because for most on here heinsight is 20/20 and now you can say no way he had a chance. But coming from me, Margarito during that time when he confronted Floyd about wanting to fight him, he was just a big, relentless machine with a granite chin and stamina. Heinsight is 20/20 and now you can say he had no chance but imo it would have been a challenge for Floyd. You can say he was slow as molasses. But when Floyd fought Castillo, castillo was no speed demon and he arguably won the first fight. So believe it would have been entertaining. It wouldn't have been easy for Floyd to get the win, but speed kills and i think he would have won. I mean why do you think Floyd turn down 8 million to fight baldomir instead for 8 million and one dollar more. Fighting margarito at the time was a bigger fight and he would have banked more in that fight in the end. But people forget Margarito was a machine, big, had a granite chin and was just relentless. I wish that fight would have materialized.

Margarito lost to every Elite fighter he stepped in the ring with....Cotto, Paul Williams, Mosley and Pacquaio...even lost to Daniel Santos smh and no name guys early in his career

How was he gonna beat some one that was better than them....Mayweather is without a doubt the best of his generation and back then, their was no one even messing with pretty boy Floyd from 2004-2007

Cotto boxed his ears off until the bricks and fatigue played their part...Mayweather is better than Cotto in almost every era...until the 6 round I don't remember Margo taking a round

Dude was a good fighter but the biggest hype job of my generation....they all look like boogeymen until they face elite guys....I hope GGG live up to the hype
Dude you are crazy if you think he was just a hype job. Those guys you named that beat him were straight up some of the best of this generation and hall of famers. And for your info the name Daniel Santos may be a nobody to you because you weren't following boxing then but dude was a two time jr middleweight champ. Margarito maybe be basic to you but dude was a straight up machine when he hit his prime which was around the time he wanted to fight Floyd. Believe it or not but there was a reason Floyd turned down 8 million to fight someone else for 8 million and one dollar.

Now that's very debatable. During that time I'd take margarito. Both were granite chinned that's for sure.

I never saw anything in Margarito that I thought could allow him to win the fight. It would come down to footwork and defense and Floyd had those two areas perfected where as Margarito suffered greatly in those two areas.

Nah man, Baldomir was lineal champ which obviously means he was the best in the weight class at the time.

Social anxiety? First I heard of him having that. Must explain why his only friend are his employees

I can agree with that. But people on here have no idea how relentless margarito was. I'm not saying he would have won because Floyd is just superior in hand and footspeed. It would have been tough for margarito to win. But for some to say he was a hype job and just a basic nothing fighter is crazy.
