If there was a silver lining to be found in Saturday's network head-to-head matchup between HBO and Showtime, it's that a star was born with the premium cable network debut of Felix Verdejo.

A modest-sized yet vocal crowd of more than 3,300 filed into Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York City to get a glimpse at the unbeaten 2012 Puerto Rican Olympian. The June 13 showcase marked Verdejo's first live appearance on HBO, and he didn't disappoint in cruising to a dominant 10-round virtual shutout of Ivan Najera in a matchup of unbeaten lightweights.

They literally split the audience in half. I enjoyed Walters/Marriaga tbh, and Wilder/Molina was ok too. The biggest issues were the match-making and dueling cards. Walters is not ready to be head-lining his own cards yet.

Canelo/Cotto vs Mayweather/khan????? I'll watch Canelo/Cotto not only will their be more action but the Puerto Rico/Mexico rivalry is the biggest in boxing by far, kind of like the Lakers vs Celtics.

Why does it matter if they go up against Floyd??? They are still going to get paid and Floyd vs anyone not named Pac is going to do less than with Maidana the only people watching Floyd against a bum are Mayweather fans....Mexicans/Puerto Ricans and anyone who likes boxing will tune in to Canelo/Cotto no need to be scared of Mayweather.

What is this writer talking about 12 dull rounds. Granted that Verdajo kid is nasty nasty nasty with it. I can't to see him again. But that Axe Man fight was a high paced, power punching, technical, fight. All of the fighters were great on both channels to me.

Cosign. Great fight. I've watched it 3 times. They were landing some hard shots. Those body shots made me cringe.
