Comments Thread For: Wilder: It Was a Couple-Second Buzz, I Was Never Hurt

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs) appeared to be rattled in the third round, when heavy underdog Eric Molina connected with a big right hand on the chin and Wilder's legs buckled, as over 9,000 fans gasped at the Bartow Arena in Alabama. Wilder recovered by the end of round and came back to drop Molina in the fourth.

While Wilder admits he was buzzed, he says he was never seriously hurt by any of Molina's punches.

Wilder is another hype job. Povetkin would end Wilder.

Because you say so? Povetkin will get his shot.

Wilder is the first heavyweight in a long time that I've seen with actual athletic-boxing ability...he's definitely a threat to Wlad...

That's the fight that should be made at the Garden or the Barclays'...

Why doesn't Wilder have to fight his mandatory next? And does anyone truly believe that if he fights one or even two more stiffs like Molina that it will really do anything to prepare him for Povetkin? In case Wilder and his fans haven't noticed Povetkin has been beating legit top ten fighters. And if Wlad couldn't stop him how much of a punchers chance is Wilder realistically even going to have?

So, it was a couple seconds buzz, then he came back into the fight. And somehow though, he wasn't hurt. I'm wondering, if it was a 2 second buzz, does he not realize, if that were Wlad or Povetkin, a second punch would have been right behind it? Then what? This guy not only has to take a refresher course in basic boxing, he has to learn how to keep the boxing brain actually working... for the training to do any good. It wouldn't matter if it was Breland or whoever... if the guy basically panics and forgets everything once he's out there on the big stage... what good could any trainer be?

He needs to leave the ego orbit behind and learn how to automatically remember what he's taught. Otherwise it's lights out and career shot after the first intense challenge.

No because he has concussive power and an olympic gold medal in boxing (so he can definitely box). He pretty much does everything better than Wilder. Even Takam would habe beat Wilder, Im sorry to break it to you but Wilder is not as good as you think.

Wlad was too busy thinking about hugging and cuddling rather than trying to stop Povetkin.

I am a Wlad fan and I agree with you. But that doesn't change the fact that Wald's punching power due to technique are lights years better then Wilders. Therefore I believe Povetkin beats him rather easily.
