Comments Thread For: Jones: Amir Khan Looked a Bit Scared of Being Hit

Former WBO super featherweight world champion Barry Jones had originally tabbed his countryman, Amir Khan, to create a lot of problems for WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan is under consideration to face Mayweather on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

After watching Khan's performance last month, when the Bolton fighter struggled to a twelve round unanimous decision over heavy underdog Chris Algieri, Jones has changed his opinion and he's picking Mayweather to beat him with ease. He felt Khan displayed some of his old flaws, like being hesitant in his actions because he was worried about the counters he would get in return.

Why are you always on Khan's thread when you dislike him so much? You have secret crush on him what? Go do something constructive with your time. But then again NSB is full of lowlife loser. Oh well carry on

Roys correct. He panics when his opponent gets close to him because he knows that one good punch and a follow up from his opponent and thats ot.

Mayweather vs Khan Sept Floyd knocks him and Mayweather retires with a KO victory. Thats the plan Al Haymon has laid out.

Both Paulie and Roy Jones have pegged Khan to give Mayweather problems but as I've said, it's the Roach version that was a dangerous offensive fighter. Khan can still cause problems imo but I agree with the statement made in the article, Khan did look afraid to get hit, even though Algieri never had the power to hurt him.

A lot of it is to do with Hunter, constantly telling him to think and be defensive, which isn't how Khan is wired. It works against passive fighters like Alexander and if Khan can land big, he can hurt guys but Algieri had huge size advantages and flipped the script.

Anyway, everyone is reading too much into one performance. Khan looked exceptional against Alexander and Collazo, a long way removed from the KD filled win against Diaz.

Well, when Chris Algieri is hurting you, you should be a bit scared about getting hit.

That's because Alexander was a perfect style matchup and Collazo is way past it.
