Comments Thread For: Lemieux-N'Dam Controversy Erupts Over Officials

CORK, Ireland - Gary Hyde, manager of International Boxing Federation (IBF) No. 1-ranked, mandatory middleweight contender Hassan N'Dam (31-1, 18 KOs), has objected to two officials named to work the June 20th IBF world middleweight title fight between N'Dam and David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) at the famed Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Cameroon-native N'Dam, promoted by King Sports, is a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) 160-pound division world champion. The IBF No. 4-ranked Lemieux was born and lives in Montreal, Quebec.

I don't think GB has anything to do with that. Isn't the IBF supposed to select the judges and officials? Not sure how uncommon this is every time I see a fight overseas there is always 1 or 2 judges from that country. When fighters from other countries come to the US there is always 2 or 3 US judges usually from the same city of the venue. I don't think the judges are going to matter because Lemieux is going to lay this dude out.

what typically happens in world title fights in the sanctioning body will "suggest" certain officials, and typically the local commission goes with those suggestions. Some commissions though ignore the sanctioning body and appoint whoever they want.

How many hometown Vegas judges and officials have worked a Mayweather fight despite the fact he lives, trains and fights exclusively in Vegas?

I think N'dam is better then people give him credit, he handled Curtis pretty well even in a smaller than average ring.

well its the NSAC id think there would be a higher percentage of a chance a judge comes outta vegas, despite the fact floyd is from grand rapids. i mean the biggest boxing fights in the last 10 years have come outta las vegas when you think about it. we haven't had massive canadian fights since the leonard days.
