His last fight was October 4th 2014 and he lost a split decision to Tommy Carpency 23 wins 4 losses and 1 draw. Boxrec ranks him at 26th in the light heavyweight class.
Well he doesn't get credit from me. Most of the rounds were typical Hopkins rounds when he isn't exactly dominating but he is dirtying it up so much that the judge doesn't know who to score it for. Hopkins barely got caught with anything in that fight, it's just that he did did little himself offensively. This is usually what happens with B-hop, against slick boxers who try to be cute.
The way Kovalev dominated Hopkins (albeit a few years older) just shows that you can't even say things like: Well if Hopkins was 5 years younger, he would've won. If he straight up dominated him, rather then squeak out a split decision win, then that means he still probably would've beat him even if he was younger. Hopkins was older, but he wasn't 1980-Muhamad Ali Vs Larry Holmes shot. And I was rooting for Hop.
leonard got dominated by norris less than 5 years after beating hagler.
benitez was dominated by damn near everyone less than 5 years after beating duran and going 15 hard rounds with hearns.
you mentioned ali-holmes. ali had the thrilla and beat shavers, young and norton less than 5 years before losing to holmes.
fighters fade fast, once they fade enough they can lose to just about anyone. hops didnt have any legs or reflexes by the time he fought kovalev, he wasnt anything close to the hopkins who fought dawson. just look at karo freakin' murat teeing off on him, he was done.
i was shocked kovalev still couldnt stop him, not only that but i saw a lot of kinks in his armor. leaving himself wide open to counters (except hopkins no longer could pull the trigger), fighting in straight lines (except hopkins didnt have the legs to step around) and having no inside game at all (except hopkins didnt have the legs, strength or simply energy to do anything).
hopkins who fought dawson and pascal probably beats him. hopkins who fought tarver probably knocks him out.
and secondly beat him relatively easily in the second fight.
You can keep saying it, doesn't make it so. Of course he didn't.
He doesn't get anywhere near the credit Kovalev gets for that win, when in reality he beat a better Hopkins than Kovalev did.
Of course he shouldn't get the credit he does not deserve for beating a inactive Hopkins, who only went 2 rounds prior to that fight (which doesn't even count) and had his last real fight a year ago before that (vs Pascal), whereas THE OLDER Hopkins just had two good, clean wins before Kovalev, going 12 rounds a piece, which by all standards adds on to your sharpness.

This is a leap in logic. Oh so he couldn't stop him (something which no one has ever done and will probably never do, unless Hopkins aged another 10 years), and that's reason to believe that he would get knocked out by Hopkins?
There was nothing in that fight that can lead one to believe or say that Hopkins knocks him out even he only was an X amount of years younger. Nothing except some kind of built in bias.
He got wrecked in the ward fight.... The beating he took in that fight, ruined him as a top level fighter.. Adonis fight back at his normal weight proved dawson is done, and is now heading into jeff lacy territory...
Dawson's biggest weakness was ring IQ... the guy had great skills, but he lacked the ability to be a ring general hence why he struggled with pascal..
Sir Joe was supposed to come out of retirement to fight this guy and his 4 fans
no he was supposed to fight dawson instead of roy jones and jones' 4 fans. or he could have fought pavlik if he wanted someone who was good and had popularity but instead he fought jones who had neither. the fight bombed of course.
Curse of Tommy Karpency when you get in the ring with him you're never the same again how many more victims will he add to his hitlist before people recognize.
