A unified champ at MW and SMW?

I know it doesn't make for an au****ious start when a thread begins with the words "hear me out" but seriously, hear me out..

I made a not-too-serious comment about this in one of the many Degale threads that have popped up. I was joking then, it's obviously pure fantasy, but perhaps there's something too this..

James Degale is currently ranked no.1 for the IBO belt. Should Groves beat Jack in September Degale could be IBO champion by that time at which point the only obstacles in the way unifying the super middleweight division is Arthur Abraham/Sauerland and the sactioning bodies themselves. I don't see Matchroom or Roc Nation standing in the way.

It's unlikely but it could be done and with a big enough push it could be done by summer next year.

That would leave the middleweight division. While Golovkin is waiting for Canelo to take Cotto's belts he needs to get Andy Lee in the ring and get that IBF belt. That would be so much more trickier.

Imagine, Alvarez/Golovkin for the undisputed middleweight championship, Ward/Degale* for the undisputed super middleweight championship with the victors fighting each other. People are looking for the next true megafight. This could be it.

    *subject to change.

James Degale doesn't beat Andre Ward, full stop. Beyond that, a lot of things need to fall in place:

-George Groves needs to beat Badou Jack, likely on the Mayweather card in Vegas.
-James Degale would have to defeat the winner of Groves/Jack at some point
-Degale/Groves/Jack would likely have to go to Germany to take on Germany-based Arthur Abraham.
-the winner of all that would have to face off against Ward

We all know that, traditionally, there existed the Middleweight and the Light Heavyweight divisions... Some sporadic earlier attempts excluded, the Super Middleweight division traces its actual beginning to 1984, when Murray Sutherland defeated Ernie Singletary for the IBF version of the title.
