Pacquiao's legacy is cemented with these numbers along with being the first fighter in history to earn a 9 figure paycheck in one fight. Fighter of the decade. Most exciting fighter of our era. Holder of the ALL TIME PPV record.

Kind of like how presidential election results are handled in the US (people cast their ballots throughout the day, polling places typically close 8pm local time, the actual counting of the ballots start soon after that, and then once a threshold of ballots have been counted [in some states that could be less than 5% of the actual vote], historical trends/voting patterns are used to predict a "projected winner", with the actual ballots being counted over the next 3-5 days (in some instances taking weeks to months to count) to declare the official winner and vote count.
From the numbers that they've gotten over the last 10 days, Showtime/HBO believe the tally to be around 4.4m PPV buys; when the final count is done, the actual number may end up being 4.623456m PPV buys.

And now, I can see a problem with the voracity of promoters and TV networks: the bar has been raised in terms of PPV cost and they know that fans would end accepting paying more no matter how good or bad a boxing event could be.

4.4 million people paid good money to watch someone play tag while another guy tries to push the action and make the fight somewhat exciting!!! I'm sure almost all of them regret having bought into that joke fight.

Even floyd said "He was injured so the fight didnt count. I'll wait until he is a 100% so he can give me the rematch to prove myself"

The supporting fights were less than average and Floyd-Manny was a big deception. The expensive price wasn't justified. Luckily, there was a much better fight (more exciting and with more action) on May 9th and the best thing is that it didn't cost me additional money. It is always rewarding to feel that someone delivers a good service in exchange of your money (in case of Alvarez and Kirkland it goes with the price paid for been an HBO subscriber).

If you want boxing watch Floyd
If you want a disgusting mismatch then watch Canelo his tickets cost like 5$ anyway. Great bargain for broke people like you.
