WBC/WBA/WBO welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) has no shortage of possibilities after winning a twelve round decision over his career rival, Manny Pacquiao, last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

One dangerous option for Mayweather is WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29KOs), who returns on May 17th against Willie Monroe Jr. at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

This fight is only important to me if Mayweather is motivated to "fight" Golovkin and hurt him. We all know that isn't the Mayweather we are going to see so watching Floyd play catch me if you can whilst throwing just enough to eke out a win does nothing for me. I don't want to see Mayweather get a win with these guys just because he can. Floyd is unbeatable unless you can close the distance on him. If you don't he will just slip out of every pocket you put him in and shoot enough punches to "win" the round.

How much did Floyd weigh last Saturday night? Floyd would certainly be wise to avoid GGG. I can't see him keeping GGG off of him and If he could It would certainly be beyond Impressive. I don't think we have to worry about these questions being answered. No way In hell that Floyd fights Golovkin.

Why do all these people want Golovkin to move up for. He's a natural middleweight and is not struggling to make weight. Its not like he's gonna get any bigger considering he is in his 30s already. Plus he's only 5'10 making him quite short for super middle. I think he should stay at middleweight and try to get Cotto and Canelo.

I didn't know which of you *******s you respond to so I picked one at random. GGG is the real deal. You guys are such losers calling him a fraud for wanting to fight Floyd. Who doesn't? I never post even though I've been reading this for years but you Floyd nuthuggers can cool it. Robinson was best ever so this TBE **** can stop right now. Floyd is a very talented coward. He picks and chooses to fight the right guys at the right time. Like Chris Rock said, he didn't wait 5 years to fight Pac because he didn't like Bob Arum. GGG has said for years he's open to 154 and 168. Ward isn't losing any time soon so be patient, their fight will come eventually. Floyd doesn't get to pick and choose who he wants at 154 and call himself the greatest. It's not his fault everyone is afraid to fight him. Now fighting often is a bad thing? I'd rather see him fight often than sit out and wait for the big money fights. He's a throwback fighter, accept it. Maybe he'll get love from you when he beats up some women.

When will you people learn? You can build GGG up as much as you want it would be a much different story once the fight happens. He can cut off the ring against people that's much slower than him. How is going to cut off the ring against someone with Mayweather's movement? If you'll be happy with him missing every punch and looking quite average then keep dreaming about this fight.

I certainly wouldn't call GGG a bum, but he is in my eyes still essentially untested. I would also have concerns about how much of his physical attributes he could translate down to 154. If the fight happened and Floyd cruises to victory in second gear there would genuinely be a question in my mind as to whether GGG wasn't all that great as he's faced only middling competition, or if GGG's physical gifts were greatly diminished by the weight. all that being said,if it got made i'd watch it, but on paper it seems like it would say more if Floyd lost than if he won which isn't what I wanna see. I wanna see a fight that can (at least in theory) tell me about both fighters and either outcome.
