I have a lot of time for Cotto but I feel as though he is trying to avoid that fight. Despite his respectable usual "We are always available for the big names" . If I was GGG I would refuse the step aside money and keep pressuring these guys to fight me because it is not below Cotto to retire at the end of his RNS deal, leaving GGG hanging.

I know a lot of Cotto fans would say it is to do with other factors, but it is quite clear, to me at least, that Cotto is not exactly interested in any more fights that are tougher than they have to be at this point. He may only be 34 but he is nearing the end, does he want to face another possible Margarito? Another possible Pacquiao type of grind? I do not think so.
(NOTE: I said 'possible', not that GGG definitely would be the same utter beatdown that those bouts where, but does Cotto want someone that COULD show him that hell again? Doubtful)

Even IF, it is a little far to call Cotto a duck and that he is openly avoiding GGG, then it is safe to say that he wouldn't exactly be sad if it doesn't come off. Cotto has one of those careers it is hard to call him a ducker, but that does not mean he actively wants GGG.

I have been one of the last guys to the Golovkin bandwagon. And I think duck is a badly overused word. But Cotto is ducking Golovkin and I don't see anyway around that.

Until the sanctioning bodies do something about it, Cotto is the MW champ of the world and HE CALLS THE SHOTS. It's that simple.
Actually they have. GGG is Cotto's mandatory after Geale. So if GGG does'nt take the step aside money, Cotto's shot calling days are over. I honestly wish that he would just vacate instead of making it a god damn day time soap opera, because I like Cotto and don't want to see him destroyed by GGG. Let GGG unify instead of **** blocking him. Like you said big fights for Cotto are not dependant on having a belt. So why be an ass hat?

"He [Golovkin] has to wait like anybody else," Cotto told ESPN.com. "He can do whatever he wants. My career does not depend on Gennady Golovkin. Everything I do will be the best for me. That is what I will do. If that is fighting Gennady Golovkin, I will do it. If not, he can take the middleweight title. He can take it."

We reached out to Cotto and we didn't get any response

"We reached out to Cotto before we got this fight [against Willie Monroe Jr], and we didn't get any response", Loeffler said via ***************.com.
gee it looks like right there he says that he would fight GGG

In the same breath he says he'll give Golovkin the title. No fighter is going to straight out say "yes I'm ducking X" but it's clear what Cotto is doing here. He had no Canelo fight, no fight scheduled, GGG was available and Cotto didn't even listen to any offers and now is fighting Geale. Doesn't get much more clear than that.

Fans should always want the best to fight the best, unifications and clarity in each division. Cotto deserves the paper? He's fought the biggest names in boxing in Mayweather and Pacquiao, he's made a fortune in boxing.
and cotto is fighting a VOLUNTARY. So I don't see why you have a problem witht that.

The Canelo fight wan't there cuz he walked away over the cinco de mayo date. Obviously his next fight was gonna be in june. So of course he wouldn't have a fight scheduled for jan-march (which cotto didn't get to fight late last year, which he usually does). and for ya who think cotto is gonna fight GGG coming off of a layoff, I want what ya are smoking. Pass that shit!

And no I don't like the Geale fight for his voluntary, I would have preferred Heiland or T.Johnson.

How many PPV events has Cotto headlined? As the star name, not the opponent to Mayweather.

No, as someone else finally mentioned Cotto is with Roc Nation, that fantastic promoter who also cannot get Ward a decent fight on HBO or Showtime.
