Comments Thread For: Kirkland Not Worried About Ring Rust Versus Canelo

ring rust is not going to be a massive issue for a ddue who relies so little on boxing, timing, sharpness, etc.
kirkland is a fighter. if you've watched him spar, you'll see that he goes through sparring sessions similar to the types of brawls he gets into.
if he's gong to box with alvarez, he's going to lose. canelo is a polished offensive fighter.

Styles make fights and I just don't see what Canelo has that will nuetralize what James does. Canelo as a fighter fits the old addage "jack of all trades, master of none" to a tee. You basicaly have three ways to beat James' style. You outbox him, which Canelo can't do. You have the strength to keep him tied up on the inside like Molina did and I don't see that happening, or you knock him smooth the **** out which is Canelo's best bet. Even then Kirkland has been in there with bigger punchers than Canelo and they could'nt get him out of there. Canelo's only hope imo is an Ishida type stoppage where he knocks him down a few times in a round and the ref has seen enough because I've never seen James truly hurt.
If we get the very best Kirkland and the very best Canelo, Kirkland is going to kill this kid imo.

brian vera, huh?
he's got the slow part down, surely, but he literally boxes like a novice.
pardon me for recognizing a bad chin when i see it coming up against a very good offensive fighter when his opponent isn't hard to find.
kirkland is likely going to get knocked out, and the vegas odds are going to reflect that.
put a bet down on a stoppage if you are so convinced. you'll get solid odds on a kirkland knockout, and if you can pick the round you'll make a f#ckload of money.
more skilled than for which i'm crediting him?
perhaps
a much more skilled fighter? of course not.
a more skilled boxer than alvarez, or a guy who should be favored to beat alvarez because of his boxing skills? don't be ridiculous.
alvarez will lose only if he's in a gunfight and gets caught. not because james kirkland boxes well enough to give brian vera problems. the only other issue i could see popping up for canelo is stamina due to the weight. kirkland does have a terrific engine, and his power carries when he's training hard.

If Kirkland was a quitter we would of seen it by now considering the types of fights he is usually in. As for the fight. Kirkland is going to destroy Canelo and if Canelo is'nt careful he will end up shot like Angulo after the beating he is going to take.
I think I've only seen Kirkland fight twice, against Angulo and the Ishida fightLast edited by anonymous2.0; 04-22-2015, 02:48 PM.

kirkland's been known to skip training. there's plenty of quit, i assure you.
if you can't get enough courage to beat your alarm clock, you're gonna have a hell of a hard time with a world class offensive fighter finding your chin.

As for betting my money will be where my mouth is because I'm a huge Kirkland fan. =)
As for Kirklands chin. Yes he has been subject to flash knockdowns in several fights. But again like I said he has never truly been starried eyed and legs trying to buckle under him, ever and again, he has been in there with bigger punchers than Canelo.

you can watch his legs buckle in the ishida fight and pretend it isn't happening. there's nothing i can do about that. according to your own testimony, you're a kirkland fan.
my advise would be to pick a stretch of rounds where you think kirkland will score his knockout, and bet them. i wish you the best of luck, and hope that the best man wins.
