Comments Thread For: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. To Get Crack at Adonis Stevenson?

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. makes his return to the ring on Saturday night at the StubHub Center versus Andrzej Fonfara. Word throughout the industry is that if Chavez Jr. comes out victorious this weekend he will get a crack at WBC light heayweight titlist Adonis Stevenson. Chavez-Fonfara will have a vacant WBC International title at stake.

Stevenson is coming off a 12-round decision over Sakio Bika on April 4th in Quebec. Just recently Main Events - on behalf of mandatory challenger Sergey Kovalev - withdrew from a purse bid (which had a 50-50 split) that was scheduled for April 17th.

I would be glad if boxingnews updates about the purse bid, if it was made or not. Adonis tweeted that he was in Mexico already.

Haymon has a reputation for protecting his fighters, I would be very surprised if he put two cash cows like that in the ring together.
