I wonder what would happen if Wlad wasn't allowed to hug his opponent every 10 seconds or push their heads down?

Little premature for speculation, need to see Ward actually fight at 175lb before making a decision.

You mean 11 years ago in the amateurs Ward beat a guy that beat a guy this thread isnt even about? Thanks for your input.

Back to topic i think right now Kovalev would destroy Ward, if Ward actually gets back into rhythm and moves up to 175 in the next year, has at least a top 10 win there before facing Kovalev, i think this will be a very competitive fight but i still think Kovalevs wins by close decision or knocks Ward out in the championship rounds.

Kovalev by Knock THE F**K OUT, not just knock out.

It's a close fight. And anyone saying Kovalev KOs Ward easily needs to go back and watch some of Ward's fights. Can Kovalev win? Yes but definitely no easy win.

If my life was on the line I would lean to Ward (points decision) provided he has one or two warm up fights first. Ward has been inactive far too long.

I'd lean towards Ward, but it's a 50-50 fight. Kovalev knows how to deliver his power and doesn't need big openings to do so. As good as Ward is it's hard to neutralise that for 12 rounds.

Ward hasn't faced anyone as sharp as Kovalev is offensively either. It's easy (or easier) to exert masterful control over distance when your opponents are slow. Against a sharp guy like Kovalev who's very tuned into distance control himself, and who doesn't need to set himself to land a concussive shot, it's all very different.

Ward would look to tie Kovalev up as much as possible until there's clear evidence Kovalev is starting to tire. Then he'd look to start picking him apart. But it would be a tight-rope walk the whole way.

Kovalev will win by merit cos Ward will never step in the ring with him.

Kovalev outboxed a much better fighter in Hopkins(though his old I admit). And I think Hopkins has more respectable power, better technician and much more proven than Ward. Kovalev is also much bigger than Ward. I think this is 60/40 fight for Kovalev. I like Ward chances more in GGG fight than this. At this Point, Kovalev prove himself a dangerous opponent than GGG, because he is bigger and defeated the two top fighters in his division (Pascal and Hopkins).Stevenson is the only one left.

Kovalev is no Froch, Kovalev can box pretty well like what he did in Hopkins Fight and with his power, he can make you think twice before you can land your own punch.

Ward doesnt have to fight anymore, because in his fans mind he already beat everybody from Kovalev to SRR. Easy work doe.
