WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (20-2-2, 12KOs) is potentially going to return to action on a May date, in his backyard of Miami, Florida. Lara lost a close twelve round split decision to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in July and then came back in December to dominate former champion Ishe Smith over twelve rounds in San Antonio, Texas.
"We want [the details of his return] to be a surprise, but I can say that we are doing everything possible to have Lara step into the ring in his original home [of Miami]. A lot of opponents have escaped us, but we promise [the next opponent] will be someone who is worthy of a world class champion like Lara," said manager Luis DeCubas Jr. to George Ebro.
