Seems odd that they would be negotiating with possibly dangerous upcoming fights. I mean if Cotto fight Heiland it's very possible he will lose and Canelo has a lot on his plate with the Kirkland fight.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Cotto will probably fight K9 at 154. That way Canelo can be the voluntary at 160 and there would be no need to give GGG step aside money and they "keep their integrity."

Tons of misinformation in this one. Both Oscar and Cotto's adviser confirmed that the May 2nd date was negotiated but that if Pac/May actually happened they had flexibility to push it back. No on thought Pac/May would actually happen when they were negotiating.
And what was Canelo supposed to do, wait forever for Cotto? Niguelito still hasn't picked an opponent and we are almost into April. Golden Boy would send a contract and not hear back for weeks. Cotto didn't want it. He wants an easy payday before he gets his ass beat by either Canelo or GGG.
