Comments Thread For: Shiming/Tso Double on 7/18, Roach Rips Game Plan

Macau - Double Olympic champion Zou Shiming's failure to win the IBF flyweight world title on Saturday does not mean China's dream of having a professional world champion is over, says veteran promoter Bob Arum.

The 83-year-old Top Rank chief, already eyeing a comeback fight for Zou, turned his attention to the next in line for a shot at glory - Hong Kong's "Wonder Kid" Rex Tso.

Tso, 27, fighting on the Amnat Ruenroeng-Zou undercard, prevailed on points in a brutal 10-round super flyweight eliminator against Michael Enriquez of the Philippines.

You win some, you lose some. At least shiming got humbled early, before it was later on in his career. Now he needs to pick up the pieces, concentrate, and get back to work.

"He was running a lot, very defensive. He was a very awkward guy to fight. I didn't see any of that on the tapes we watched," Roach told AFP. "My game plan ******."

That's all I saw when I watched a couple of his fights live

Zou is overrated, 33 already, and prolly doesnt have a very lucrative career unless Bobby matches him up well.

"My game plan ******"........yeah we know

All the greatest fighters have lost at some point in their careers. I'm glad roach admitted he had a horrible game plan, lets just hope he doesn't have a bad one for the mayweather fight, although Manny would be smart enough to adapt to any type of fight mayweather brings. I wonder if zou is getting old and if he can rebound. Lomachenko rebounded very well and hes still regarded as a top featherweight. If zou wins a big enough fight next he could redeem himself, although he definitely needs more adjusting to the pro style of fighting. Maybe Justine fortune could help him develop more punching power, and bring his speed and footwork up.

Roach is such an overrated trainer. Did he even pay attention when he watched tape of this guy? After May 2nd hopefully we stop hearing from Freddie the Joke Coach Roach.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of Roach at all, but read the article. Roach says he watched tape on Ruenroeng but didn't see any of what he showed in the fight....

Looks like that dude Rex Tso is starting to buzz now. He looked really good on the last Macau card before this past one

Correction for what Arum said: "Rex Tso put on a wonderful display of getting the SHT kicked out of him". Rex may have won, but by a slim margin and in the process got the crap kicked out of him last night by a 10-2 fighter who has now lost 3 of his last 6 fights and the only one that came out of there looking impressive was Michael Enriquez.

Roach is a great coach! However, just like with any trainer, fighter combination; chemistry is everything.
