Dafuq? Cotto is the third biggest draw in boxing, Jay Cutler isn't even top 10 quarterback. If they market his next fights correctly (with Jay-Z) they could make good money. They obviously looked at all aspects before investing the kind of money they did. There not going to give Cotto good money only to lose a ton at the end. Showtime and Floyd is another story because they gave Floyd way more money then Cotto will get, so they have a ton to make up.

He's not getting 50 mill, I dunno where these numbers pop up from.

The only way this might possibly be true is if his next 3 fights are Canelo, Golovkin, and Andre Ward at a 163 lbs catchweight.

cant blame cotto if thats true. he fought everybody throughout his whole career and has created a very strong legacy in the sport, making the big bucks at the end of his career seems like the smart thing to do.

as for roc nation, obviously they will lose money but any promoter will tell you it takes years to turn a profit in that game. cotto can sell everywhere and he is huge in NYC in particular where im sure jay z wants to build his base. put cotto in main events with some local NYC talent on the undercard, fans show up for cotto and the younger guys get a platform to become stars in their own right.

lol @ ppl saying he is "pissing money away" and stuff like that. you clearly dont understand the boxing business. its the same in almost any business really, how many restaurants do you think turn a profit in their first year? this is a build up phase, i dont think they plan to turn a proft in the next couple of years but when they do they will expect the payoff to be huge. im not saying it will pay off, it may very well fail. but you got to take big risks to reap big rewards.

He's not the third biggest draw in boxing. Look outside the Americas.

Also, he was offered $10 million guaranteed plus the bigger slice of the PPV pie. He most likely would have still made more than these fake numbers if he had nutted up and taken has ass whipping from Canelo like man...
