Hopkins has the makings of being a great commentator

He was good in broner vs paulie and collazo vs ortiz

Class breakdown by Hopkins. Clearly he respects both guys.

Too bad for Pascal, his trainer can't go back 15 years and fight for him. That's really the only chance he'd have and given it's not possible...I don't think he can possibly win.

He may remind people of Jones in some ways, but other than being a bit unorthodox, I don't see it much. One thing he doesn't do well is avoid shots. And no matter how much time Roy spends with him, he's going to get hit with power like he's never been hit with before. And Roy won't be able to help him there. He gets out of position too much and I see too many openings for Kovalev.

I think it will be a few tricky rounds for Kovalev. But he's very patient, covers ground extremely well for what you would expect would be a slower-footed guy.......he's just too much on his game. And I think Pascal still doesn't have his exact identity down. Jones has the right approach in not trying to mold him into a clone, but just adding things to his game. But without the complete package of speed, being damn near untouchable as Roy was in his prime, no serious power in either hand, and most of all, that he gasses late, I take Kovalev in a UD or late stoppage....somwhere around 9-10.

It will be a good clash of styles as long as Pascal doesn't turn it into a track meet........

Hopkins is a pretty good commentator imo. I think Lampley is good at making fights exciting, but terribly biased. Roy has great charisma, but usually gets on one fighters nuts too much. Max can be annoying, but is a bit less biased than Lamps. Paulie is a great commentator, but his scorecards don't match his commentary. I like Teddy Atlas, but he has his own biases. Very anti-Pac and Klitschko, for example. Lamps hugs onto Pac's nuts every fight.

Biggest problem fighting Kovalev is that his punches are so damn hard, they stick.

I can't see how Pascal is going to give him more than 3-4 tricky rounds. Kovalev is pretty much better at everything.

It's all about the frame. Kovalev is absurdly thick and has heavy bones. That's where his power comes from. The other guys might have height and reach advantages but none of them are built the same way. The way Hopkins says it is misleading though.

Sounds like sour g****s from the old rasist.
hopkins is the same height as kovalev and has a longer reach.
sillakh, capparello, cleverly are all bigger then kovalev with longer reach
jeez dude relax. he gave kovalev plenty of praise and took his defeat with class. kovalev's size and strength along with his skill are a big advantage. hes definitely a very strong big boned light heavyweight. hops was spot on imo

pretty much the way I see it. once kovalev figures him out and zeroes in on pascual its all over. kovalev is just too damn strong and accurate a puncher

jones tends to ramble on too much. he drives me nuts listening to him. he has great insight but just doesn't have the right means to convey it properly. its like hes going 1000 mph all the time
