No one trusted Oscar to handle leading the business.

"The Golden Boy" was the masthead of the company, put out front to smile and wink at the ladies, while Schaefer and the rest of the team actually did the work.

Everyone walked away from Oscar when he "took back control"; Schaefer left, the financial folks left, Oscar lost his relationship with AEG, he no longer has the relationship with Espinoza/Showtime, and he's teetering on the edge of losing the FS1 deal that Schaefer put together.

If this was MMA, everyone would wonder how the sport let a recovering addict be placed into such a prominent position for so long. applauded, my foot.
None of that negates the fact that Schaefer failed in his fiduciary duty to GBP by letting promotional contracts expire and continuing to promote fighters on a fight-by-fight basis. By doing so, GBP assumed more risk than reward by investing and building up fighters that had no contractual obligation to do further business with them.

Just because Schaefer kept the ship afloat and moving while ODLH was tending to his personal matters, doesn't give Schaefer the right to be a negligent CEO. If he was so innocent, he surely would be promoting (probably with Haymon) right now. Instead, he has to take time off from the game as per the negotiated settlement between himself/Haymon/GBP.

It seems as if Schaefer was on board with Haymon's PBC plans but ODLH wasn't having any of it. And why should he...Haymon's model has the potential to shift power away from traditional promoters. and promoting is a huge part of ODLH's personal brand at the moment and going fwd.

I personally don't give a hoot about how it plays out, I want to see good competitive fights. but while discussing these things, be honest and give all the facts. Scipio seems biased.

If you honestly believe that Golden Boy Promotions had the financial wherewithal to formally sign the +150 fighters that they worked with during the Haymon era, include all of those name attractions that their company was able to feature, let it be known.

I'd disagree, vehemently, but lets have that conversation.

You pull all of the Haymon names (Floyd, Berto, Judah, etc) and all the Haymon prospects (Spence, Thurman, Garcia, Broner, Wilder, etc) and what do you really end up having with Golden Boy? Likely something akin to Main Events, ie a California/Texas-based promoter only featuring Hispanic prospects and some aging vets (Hopkins, Moseley). so much for fiduciary duty and "just keeping the ship afloat".

The Haymon model, from what I gather, shifts the onus on promoters to actually promote again; Haymon controls the TV and most of the talent, while the various promoters push to pack the venues with butts in the seats.

To try and act as if Oscar had any experience in the nitty gritty of actually promoting a show is laughable.

Bob Arum did everything in his power to sabotage the company that Oscar/Schaefer were working to build; to act as if the "cold war" started over something that Schaefer did is a disservice to history.

Oscar "comes back clean", wants to finally run things and immediately bends over for Bob Arum, burning bridges with every actor that backed his company in the battle (Schaefer, Showtime, Haymon, AEG, etc). And, as anyone could've expected, the wished-for union hasn't turned up any actual positives for Golden Boy Promotions, so far.

            said what I said.

                  Fantastic fight.

Blind, delusional Lucas Matthyssee fans are going to be heart broken after this fight.

They're going to realize their hero is a non-skilled brawler just like Provodnikov..... with a glass chin.

Out of all the upcoming fights... The one I truly cannot wait for the ending and reaction by fans is this fight. Can't wait. Lmfao.

People swear Lucas is sooo "skilled."

Lets be real here.... Dude is a straight up brawler just like Provodnikov. But the thing is he has a glass chin. Got knocked silly by Molina. Imagine what Prov is going to do.

It's one thing if the die hard Lucas fans on this site were humble and realized they're hero is a caveman brawler like Prov..... but they think he's some elite boxer. Psshhh... I can't wait til this is over
