Comments Thread For: Saunders Passes on IBF/N'Dam, Wants Lee-Quillin Winner

Billy Joe Saunders has declined an opportunity to fight for the IBF World Middleweight Championship to remain on course for his WBO World title shot.

Undefeated Saunders, the IBF number four ranked contender, was this week offered a showdown for the Vacant IBF crown against the number one ranked Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, after Felix Sturm also passed on the opportunity.

Yup, that was obvious... I hate how both him and Sturm took till the last day though for something they already knew they were going to pass up

Who's next in line? And why turn down the opportunity. You can fight the winner of lee quillen later in the year, I don't get it.

David Lemeuix then Sam Soliman then Sergio Mora then Eamon O'Kane

He turned it down because he, according to what he just said, has a signed contract to fight the winner of Lee/Quillin.

He doesn't have a guarantee to fight the winner of that fight if he fights for the IBF and he gets more money either way with the WBO.

Whether it be Lee in a stadium fight in Europe or Haymon paying out the ass so he doesn't go to purse bids and Roc Nation snaps it up and Quillin vacates again

N'Dam would probably box Saunders **** off. He's taking the chance that Andy Lee wins and even if he doesn't, Quillin is a bigger fight than N'Dam.

Next in line in the IBF rankings is Canadian, David Lemieux

Saunders turned it down because if took it, He would lose his mandatory with Lee/Quillin.

Saunders has a deal to fight on the Lee/Quillin under card. A fight that will be broadcast on national TV in America giving him good exposure.

He also wants Lee to win the fight because it sets a huge fight in the summer against Lee for the title. That fight would be a stadium fight in Ireland that will earn both fighters allot of money.

It looks like Lemeuix still has some promotional issues to sort out but nothing is set in stone yet. Hopefully, Lemeuix can take the fight. I don't want to see Soliman.
