In my opinion, that Canelo fight was huge for Cotto. We all know he's a warrior and at this stage he wants big money fights but Canelo brings fans and money to the table. He's involved in that record breaking fight with Mayweather so there's the proof of what he can bring. Cotto also has a huge fan base and brings in the big bucks so that fight made sense for him. Maybe the risk was too much for him at this stage. I'd understand if he was passing on a Canelo fight for a rematch with Mayweather or a battle with GGG but Rios and Bradley are much easier and less attractive fights for him. You don't go from Canelo to Rios. Rios don't stand a chance but bradley may put up a good fight unless he goes for the KO like he did with Pac in their 2nd fight which is out of his character. I personally thought he took a dive in the fight. He was winging punches like crazy and looking very sloppy! His corner made no visible adjustments at all. They just let him swing for the fences. With all the muscles he has, I'm sure he has a decent punch but he's no KO artist.

If he fights anybody but GGG there goes most of the excuses his nuthuggers were using to justify him ducking Canelo. And before anyone says it, I could give a **** about Cotto's money, drop the belt if you are not fighting a real middleweight, the guy already turned down Rubio, and is looking to fight wee little welterweights.

Cotto and his nonsense team got too greedy and thought they will get Mayweather. In reality, a Canelo fight is far more lucrative. Why they even considered Mayweather is beyond comprehension. And the way they handled the Canelo negotiations is horrible. They took the A-side crap way too seriously. Now they're looking for alternatives, which is tantamount to giving up some of that A-side crap. Of course, such alternative will demand something special. Months ago all they have to do is communicate civilly. They behaved like royals.

I agree that he should have fought canelo. He would have been A side and made his biggest payday yet. I used to be q big supporter of cotto unto he ducked canelo. Hes turned into a diva big time. He probably wanted another crack to beat mayweather which would propel him to a big status in the sport. A loss to mayweather wouldn't affect his career much because he's already lost to him and everyone loses to him. A loss to canelo would have been detrimental to his career for sure. Hes playing those al haymon games. The fight with Bradley would be good. People are criticizing him for pulling Bradley up from welterweight, but the fact is cotto is himself a welterweight who is too much of a diva to go through cutting weight anymore. As to Bradley throwing the fight, why would he do that? He said before the fight on HBO 24/7 his game plan would be to knock Manny out because he knew he wouldn't be able to win a decision against him. Those were his words, sp he knew he lost that first fight even though he gave his best. His strategy in the second fight actually worked. He gained a lot of muscle and hit pacquiao really hard many times, even lifted pacquiao off the ground a couple times. Manny said himself that threw him off his game plan and he wasn't able to do his usual in and out and throwing all those combinations because Bradley was hitting so hard. That's why Bradley had so much more success in the second fight. Remember, the first fight pacquiao outlanded Bradley almost 2 to 1. Second fight it was alot closer.
