Comments Thread For: Provodnikov's Promoter Gives Update on Matthysse Bout

Artie Pelullo, the head of Banner Promotions, was in Los Angeles on Tuesday where he met with Golden Boy Promotions to try and iron out the details to make a match-up between junior welterweights Ruslan Provodnikov and Lucas Matthysse.

"As far as I'm concerned, Oscar (De La Hoya), Eric (Gomez) and I are on the same page. We're presenting Matthysse and Provodnikov for March the 28th, the fight will be on the network that pays the most amount of money," Pelullo said to krikya360.com.

Should be a bidding war. Showtime might win since they literally have nothing going on for them right now

Would love if Nbc bought it.

I don't think HBO will buy this fight since they have several others already scheduled in March and April. However, it is exactly the type of fight that Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant (now retired) crave - two skill-limited fights pounding away at each other in the center of the ring.

Great, another cotton.Alvarez and pac.floyd candidate.

Miami and Arizona as potential locations for the card? Haha, that's weird, . I wonder who will be on the televised portion of the undercard.

I'm not singling you out bc many people say this about many fights but why would you love that? I assume everyone (or at least the vast majority) that keep up with discussion on these forums has HBO and Showtime since that is where all boxing takes place right now; and if you do, why wouldn't you want it to be on there? There is likely better production value and most importantly there are no commercials. The only reason I like network fights is bc I believe it will lead to better matchups, but in this case the matchup is already made, why would nbc be a better outlet?
