Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Amir Khan Would Give Anybody Trouble

Amir Khan's last performance made a big impression on veteran trainer Robert Garcia. Khan (30-3, 19KOs) dominated former two division world champion Devon Alexander over twelve rounds last December at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Prior to that match, Khan dominated former champion Luis Collazo.

Trainer Virgil Hunter is tightening up Khan's defense and has him significantly cutting back on taking unnecessary chances. Khan would often leave himself open during exchanges, which led to disaster in the ring.

Khan can cause fighters for most fighters but he still has a flaw. He struggles with counter punchers that can punch with him. Khan has been matched against fighters like Collazo and Alexander who aren't counter punchers.

Alexander is completely a counter puncher, don't know what you are talking about.

No one at 147 except for Floyd maybe.

Khan is not that easy to outbox, in all honesty.

Danny Garcia knock him out again if they fight at 147.

Agree. Especially to boxers with little power. He would be a nightmare to box with because of his speed and combinations.

Alexander is not a counter puncher, at all.

He stays outside, yes, but he is one of those decent boxers with no power. When it gets to close quarters he holds, he does not counter. The Porter fight is the best example; wide open counter opportunities, he wasn't close to good enough to do it.

That's a perfect description of Alexander.
