Comments Thread For: Sulaiman: Mayweather-Pacquiao Would Elevate Boxing

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman is hoping Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao reach a deal after the two fighters met face to face in Miami and discussed a potential fight with each other for May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. If a deal is not reached this time, after so many failed attempts, Sulaiman believes the public will finally lose interest and move on to something else.

A problem that just occurred to me. Where does boxing go from there? Does it go to Haymon's NBC project? Does it go to Wilder being complete HW champion?
There needs to be a follow up star/series that carries boxing.

5 years ago , but only Alvarez from those posters' suggestions seems to be The One... kinda. However, until he learns English I don't think he has much crossover appeal to be world-famous like Mayweather and Pacquiao. Plus, he's looked beatable on more than a few occasions (Trout, Lara, Mayweather...)

I can only "lol" at the suggestion of Alexander, Bradley or Ortiz (yes, I was in that camp) as the next superstars.

Canelo lacks something, I feel like he is being forced on us to be a star. I don't see it aside from his good looks.

He wants to fight all the toughest guys out there, I'll give him that but, it ends there for me.

I guess he's lacking that REAL defining win.

GGG, Kovalev will carry the sport.

its always the action fighters that have great action fights that keep the sport alive.

fighters like floyd just do more harm than good with their ducking and boring fights.

fighters who excessively spoil fights should not be on ppv.
