Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: 'Good Possibility' Pascal Upsets Kovalev

NEW YORK – Roy Jones Jr. respects Sergey Kovalev and considers the unbeaten Russian the best light heavyweight in boxing.

The legendary Jones still is convinced the IBF/WBA/WBO 175-pound champion will have much more difficulty defeating Jean Pascal on March 14 in Montreal than the odds indicate. Jones doesn’t understand why Kovalev (26-0-1, 23 KOs) is a 5-1 favorite over Pascal, a former WBC light heavyweight champion who has boxed better competition overall than Kovalev during his 10-year professional career.

i would not be shocked if pascal wins but i also wouldnt be suprised if he is ahead on the score cards by a few rounds when kovolav catches him either. i think its a closer and better fight then people are giving it credit thats for sure. I think people underestimate kovolav boxing ability but i also think some overrate it after he beat hopkins as well. I dont know i personaly am excited for this fight

"There's a good possibility you could win this fight!"

Yeah sure, and Lennox Lewis has a good chance of returning to boxing and beating Wladimir Klitschko.

I want to find out how Kovalev handle a moving target, I haven't really saw him fight against fast moving target. Pascal will move in and move out off harms way, it'll depend on Kovalev to pin him against the ropes and bombs away.

The great Roy Jones Jr. (as Pascal's former trainer) had to state something like this... We all understand...

The fact is that, as early as possible, Kovalev will assess Pascal's movement... Then, perform the famous "shift" and dramatically KO the poor bloke.

What are you basing this off of? The only time we came close to seeing him actually box he got outboxed by the bum that he fought before he fought Hokins. He was outlanded and outworked before he dropped the kid with a body shot.

Pascal can take a shot, he has proven this. This will be the fight we see what Krusher can do. He will have to box as the chance of him dropping Pascal is low.

I still take Pascal by 6th round K.O. Any takers?

Kovalev should work Pascal's body early on, to wear him out sooner.

Also, Kovalev is a volume puncher, while Pascal has poor stamina. He's also hittable. Not a good match-up.
